Welcome!
I am a San Anselmo native and the mother of two teenagers. I have spent the majority of my life living in the Bay Area. I graduated in 1996 from Penn State University with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies. From that point on I have been practicing as a therapist in clinical settings. I started my career prior to graduate school as a para-professional working with children with autism. While in graduate school earning a Master’s degree in Social Work, I worked in a homeless shelter and a therapeutic school for children. I joined Kaiser Permanente’s Department of Psychiatry in 1999 and stayed for over two decades.
During my time at Kaiser I worked with every imaginable type of mental health concern in an office setting as well as in the Emergency Department. I practiced individual and group therapy with children, adolescents and adults. I lead parent support groups and moms groups. Providing therapy to parents who are seeking support for themselves while navigating their parenting role, as well as wanting to improve their connection and relationship to their child or teen is a primary interest of mine. My practice includes working with parents in all phases— from pregnancy to post-partum to parenting toddlers, tweens or teens, to preparing for an navigating an empty nest and beyond. Working with expectant parents and new mother’s is a passion of mine.
During my last 7 years at Kaiser I specialized in working with LBGTQ youth and teens and young adults, specializing in providing services to gender expansive and transgender youth, teens and their families.
I have training in a variety of modalities and use an eclectic mix of styles to provide therapy in a way that is practical, approachable, evidence based, interactive, strengths based and relational. I am trained in a variety of modalities and pull from a large depth of knowledge from my 20+ years of experience. Working with the family system with a focus on the quality of relationships is where I focus my attention. My current passion is in training and learning about the IFS (Internal Family Systems) modality/ Parts work. I have found that this lens offers my clients the opportunity to learn about themselves with more depth and healing.
First and foremost, I want my patients to feel relaxed and safe so we can work together around the challenge of being human and all the complexities that life brings. I have a relaxed and conversational style but am interactive and directive at times.
I am passionate about my work. I feel excited about the possibility within every client I meet, just as I am honored to be part of the process of learning and growing.
I look forward to meeting you and working together.
